STEPHEN WELSH had to be stretched off during the second half of Celtic’s tie against St Mirren on Wednesday night after the player took a nasty knock to the ankle.
Welsh immediately went to the floor in pain after Obika lunged to win the ball high up the field.
Shane Duffy came on for the rest of the game as the youngster was taken to the dressing room.
Tonight, we know the player is now using crutches and a boot as a precaution and his ankle will be properly assessed tomorrow.

Without knowing too much about the injury, trauma to the ankle will almost certainly mean Welsh misses the St Johnstone game but could well be out for longer if it’s swollen and bruised.
It’s a shame the player might miss a run of games because he was finally getting his chance in the first team after a long wait this term.
Fingers crossed it isn’t too bad.
Tough one to take.
You would think, if you didn’t know any better, there was some kind of plot against our club, you know just for one season, for us to be hamstrung?
Ach!
Am haverin’!
