VAKOUN BAYO doesn’t want to return to Celtic according to the Toulouse president Damien Comolli.

The striker has been out on loan all season to the Ligue 2 side and scored 12 goals for them last term.

Toulouse have an option to buy the Brendan Rodgers signing but they’ve not been forthcoming to this point.

Taking part in a meeting with supporters, Damien Comolli confirmed Vakoun wants to stay at the club and the striker has been given their proposal.

Quoted by RecordSport, Comolli said: ” Vakoun Bayo wants to stay with us and he has now received our proposal.

“Of the two other players we had on loan last season, the option to buy Brecht Dejaegere has been exercised, but on the other hand, Sebastien Dewaest will not return because his salary is too high.”

Celtic would have to be happy with any proposal before Vakoun made the final decision. The French club are not awash with cash and it’s likely that any deal to land Bayo would be at a diminished fee.

It depends if Ange Postecoglou wants to run the rule over the Ivory Coast man before allowing him to leave.

Celtic must use the resources they have and leave no stone unturned as they look to make a winning squad for the season ahead. Players who might have looked done at the club could end up having a part to play in our revival.

  1. I wouldn’t imagine he wants to play for us either. He’s had game time in France, he likes it there, he wants to stay. We need to focus on who wants to play for us and who can be developed, our youth for starters is something we need to be better at hanging onto. If Ange gets anything out of Ajeti, fine. If Griffiths can bag nearer 20 goals good, if not we can get him off the wage bill next summer. We either sell Eddy and buy a new striker or he stays and although we get hee haw for him next summer, it’s another one off the wage bill. I would sell him while a profit is there. We have midfield options and are always looking at midfielders. It’s really the goalkeeping situation, right back, left back and striker. Maybe a left sided version of Forest too. We also need to match this against the youth we have

  2. “If Griffiths can bag nearer 20 goals good”…??? He hasn’t scored 20 goals in the league over the last 3 seasons combined! The Griffiths myth that he’s somehow a prolific goalscorer is a figment of your imagination. He’s scored 4 goals for Scotland (in total – and all in 2017) over the 6 or 7 years he’s been involved with the national team. As a Rangers suppoter, I sincerely hope that you do waste mopney on another 12 month contract for him but you really need to open your eyes and stop believing the myth.

  3. We’ve had enough probs with players ‘not wanting to be here’.
This is, hopefully, a new start for us, time to concentrate on Celts who appreciate the club, and again, hopefully, The Support who will be 60,000 strong at CP again at some point next season. That’s what any real footballer wants to play Infront of, a full Legendary Celtic Park!
