There’s been a lot of online debate over the new Celtic Park banners.

Watching it come together over the space of the last week reminded me of loading an image on the internet before broadband. Yes, I’m that old!

Celtic fans have an opinion on everything and because there’s been no competitive football to discuss – the banners have been getting too much attention online.

Some Celtic supporters not happy with the new design or its simplicity.

The banner, covering the Lisbon Lion stand looks clean and well put together.

However, if you’re not won over by the new design. How about these images from @_Candice91 on twitter.

The new banners after dark. It looks stunning.

Celtic are set to be reintroduced into the Champions League in just over a months time. Some big names will surely be heading to the East End of Glasgow in games that will take place under the lights.

The stadium needed freshened up and the new banners certainly do that. Having Billy McNeill holding the European Cup aloft is the most iconic image in Celtic’s long and storied history on the stadium going into a Champions League campaign is perfect.

  1. Billy holding aloft the trophy is brilliant. The surrounding design, font, layout, weird colour are eyewateringly DULL. COME ON! Its like a letter heading. ‘Clean’ is one way of putting it. This is a stadium for leisure, sport and entertainment not a conference venue for grey business delegates.

  2. Sometimes less is more. The mixed collag e of image as from different eras was ‘ bitty ‘. This us minimalist and stylish. We want our stadium to look impressive and adult. Not children’s wallpaper.
It also shows just how cheap and gawdy the Ibrox versions are.
