Former Celtic striker and now pundit Chris Sutton thinks the Hoops’ season is still retrievable, but he admitted that manager Brendan Rodgers should be doing better domestically than he already is.

Currently, the Celts sit second in the Scottish Premiership. A 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock on Saturday caused them to fall in the pecking order.

It was yet another sub-par display from The Bhoys, who have never really hit top gear this season. At the weekend, Sutton claimed that gaffer Rodgers hasn’t improved a single player since his return to the club.

A fair claim from the outspoken pundit, Sutton believes there is still time for Celtic to salvage things, though: “There is a lot of unhappiness amongst the fanbase about Celtic not spending their huge amount of money and not bringing lots of players in”, he said (Radio 5 Live via Glasgow Times).

“My point was Brendan Rodgers should be doing better domestically than he is, at this moment in time with the players he has available.

“It has been a disappointing season, but still retrievable.”

Given the way things are going, Celtic fans don’t seem to have too much optimism that the fortunes of their club will change any time soon.

Despite results being up and down, performances have remained at a similarly poor level.

If the Hoops are to win their third league championship in a row, things will need to improve massively over the forthcoming 12 Premiership matches because, at the minute, the Celts don’t look like a title-winning side.
