Neil Lennon announced his Celtic team today with one huge absentee – Kieran Tierney. This has to be one of the worst seasons ever for injuries at Parkhead. Last week Celtic lost Ryan Christie in their semi-final against Aberdeen, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Before kick-off today when speaking on Sky Sports, Lennon confirmed Tierney is out and due to see a specialist during the week. The interim manager confirmed Tierney may need surgery for his injury and things should be made clearer once the left-back sees the specialist.

There seems to be a jinx hanging around the Celtic squad this season, just before Christmas the team were playing without a recognised striker. They had to dig down into their reserves and bring in players like Mikey Johnson and Ewan Henderson to plug the holes. The only good thing to come out of the injury jinx is that the players that have been called up have stepped up to the plate.

Neil Lennon will be hoping that trend continues today.
