Celtic appear to have been given a possible transfer boost in the pursuit of left-sided Charlton Athletic player Alfie Doughty.

The Addicks have signed defender Akin Famewo on a season long-loan from Norwich City. Famewo is originally a central defender but can play in several positions such as left-wingback.

It was reported by the Daily Record today, that the Scottish Champions were set to put in one final offer for Doughty, who Neil Lennon is clearly a fan of.

With the League One side making this defensive addition, this could allow the move for Doughty to finally take place.

New Charlton owner, Thomas Sandgaard did warn yesterday that no player will be sold on the cheap. However, with Doughty going into the final year of his contract and thought to be interested in a move up north, this could make the move more likely to happen.

The left-wing back position is Neil Lennon’s main aim going into the final week of the transfer window and he will be hoping we can get a deal wrapped up as soon as possible so that they can get settled into the club.
