The Celtic manager has hit back at the fans and pundits in the media who are moaning Celtic don’t have enough players at this stage of the season.

Fans on social media as well as pundits have bemoaned Celtic’s lack of activity in the transfer market, arguing the club should be more equipped to deal with the hectic Champions League qualifiers.

With suspensions, injuries and World Cup duty it’s another season where Celtic are flying by the seat of their pants and banking on Rodgers’ genius to navigate the choppy waters ahead.

When asked again about the lack of transfer activity or in the depth of a position the manager came out swinging.

“People talk about lining up your ducks but they are never going to be all aligned. That’s the reality of it. It is probably easier to write or say if you lose a centre-half you should have another one.

“I think people expect you to have 10 centre-halves. Football doesn’t work like that in the real world.

“It might do on the computer games and whatnot but it doesn’t work like that.

“You have to build a squad but if you bring people in and they get injuries then it is a challenge.

“You can’t moan about it. You just need to get on with it as best you can.”

  1. Rodgers your talking nonsense also you don’t need to spend big money also just walk away then about your mcginn saga ya numpty if we get beat tonite it be your fault there are guys in the championship etc u just need to look around that’s it in a nutshell nae excuses that’s what I say

  2. Nobody is asking you to have 10 centre backs. It would be nice to have one that can actually do the job though. Boyata and Simunovic are jersey carriers and have proved they are hopeless at European level. You go into tonights game lacking a strong defence and the attack isn’t much better due to injury to Dembele and Griffiths.
Are you expecting James Forrest to play centre forward and at the back at the same time?
At this rate we wont have to worry about AEK Athens because Rosenberg may be to much of a mountain to climb due to transfer inactivity or is is it still the old biscuit tin mentality. The saga over McGinn of Hibs certainly cements the biscuit tin theory. I think the would be supporters are telling you that you may be in for an almighty fall because of repeated failure to get that central defence sorted out once and for all.

  3. Also look at Gerrard he disnae mess aboot when goin for a transfer target hoops should take a leaf oot his book just been reading that Rodgers saying blame the board for not strengthening he seems to be passing the buck lads and lassies
