CELTIC have their work cut out for them this evening against Midtjylland in the second round Champions League qualifier.

The Hoops are struggling with injuries and are under prepared for such an important game. Ange Postecoglou will make his competitive bow and hope to inspire this team to victory in the most trying of circumstances.

9000 Celtic fans will be in attendance for the game; the club got the go ahead from the government last week to facilitate around 9k. Dominic McKay did ask for double that but were left disappointed.

In the qualifiers, the margin for error is tiny, one slip and we could be out of the competition before it’s really began.

With that in mind, who is the man in the middle this evening who will be refereeing the game?

UEFA have confirmed Swiss born Sandro Schärer will officiate the game at Celtic Park this evening.

The whistler officiated twice in the Champions League last season in high profile ties with Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Over the course of last season, Sandro officiated 37 games in all competitions; handing out 142 yellow cards, 4 red cards and pointing to the spot on 18 occasions.

You would like to see the referee have no influence on how the game will pan out.

Let’s hope the bhoys can somehow grab the victory.
