Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers was rested midweek against St. Mirren. Nat Phillips came in for the American defender and wasn’t the most convincing.
The Hoops got the points in the end but former Celt Mark Wilson has admitted Carter-Vickers was missed. The now pundit said (Sky Sports): “Cameron Carter-Vickers is undoubtedly Celtic’s best defender. When you take Carter-Vickers out the side there is a big hole there so it’s a boost for every Celtic fan and every Celtic player round about him that he’s back in the side.”
Manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed previously that Carter-Vickers will be back in for this weekend’s trip to the Highlands. His lack of inclusion midweek was planned, but it didn’t have an impact on the overall result.
The 25-year-old’s absence was slightly noticeable in the overall way the Bhoys defended, though. Having him back for an arduous journey to Dingwall this weekend will be a colossal boost, as Wilson said.
