THE CELTIC TRUST have come out in the wake of the Eddie Howe and season ticket debacle to state the relationship between themselves and the board no longer exists.

The Trust have been banging their heads against a brick wall for over a year. They have been relentlessly chasing down Celtic to hold their end of the bargain when it came to added value. The club told the Trust they believe they provided added value for season ticket holders in the form of some extra cup games to the stream and delayed Champions league feeds, oh and the virtual programmes.

The chase for our first choice manager ended spectacularly on Friday afternoon when the club revealed Eddie Howe had rejected the job because he couldn’t get the team he wanted in place, even though Celtic had handed the Englishman a blank canvas.

The news has created an almighty backlash among the support who see their club without a leader so close to pre-season and with little time for a squad overhaul.

At this point, The Trust have decided dialogue with this current board is not a palatable exercise.

We have been badly let down by the custodians of our football club. While they might argue Eddie Howe’s decision came as an almight shock to them as well, the board and Dermot Desmond allowed for us to be open to utter embarrassment by not putting anything official in place.

The Trust have been at odds with the board for some time and have branded them ‘Unfit for Purpose’.

There is no short term fix for the situation we unfortunately find ourselves in. The Trustee Board will be making proposals to our next meeting but we encourage all members to put forward their suggestions too.

We remain committed to our long term goal of fan ownership and believe this to be the way to see change in how our club is run. We call for all fans to unite on this and to progress this aim by joining the Trust and building the strongest fan ownership movement.

If fans or members who do not wish to use their £50 voucher from the club have suggestions for a collective use of these, please contact us on trust@celtictrust.net

Thank you to all our members for your continued support, volunteering and engagement especially during these recent months.

  1. There is absolutely no chance of them selling anywhere near 50,000 season books which will further damage the club financially. We are entering dark days. We don’t even have to enter administration to become a huge laughing stock. Wait until a cheap, crappy team is cobbled together by whatever desperado takes this poisoned chalice (and unless they are willing to put up a sizeable chunk of change, all we are going to get is a desperado). Next season is a write-off already. Everything this board touched immediately turns to s**t. For the good of the club they should all apologise and resign immediately. What a joke Celtic are.
