Celtic went down 4-0 to a very talented PSG side on Tuesday night but they did so without their captain Scott Brown who had played some part in the previous two friendlies in France.

The Celtic star was inside the stadium but his place in the squad was taken by a returning Tom Rogic.

According to RecordSport, the Celtic captain picked up a knock at the weekend and was rested as a precaution.

There is no point in taking risks at this juncture in pre-season. Neil Lennon knows he can trust Broony to be fit and raring to go for the start of the season as long as he doesn’t pick up any annoying or niggling injuries.

In his absence, the team showed guts at times against PSG and could have scored on a few occasions had they been more sharp and clinical. Scott Bain didn’t have his best night in goals, the third goal seemed to pass through the keeper.

Celtic will head back to Scotland now where they hope to have a pre-season friendly on Saturday at Celtic Park but it is yet to be confirmed.
