Neil Lennon has sent his support to James McClean after he and his wife condemned the abuse he gets on a daily basis for being a proud Irishman.

The Celtic manager was asked for his thoughts in the situation, considering he has been subject to the most vile abuse, death threats and has been attacked on the streets and pitchside during his career.

McClean believes the abuse is not taken seriously because it’s anti-Irish abuse. Had he been of another race or religion, he believes there would be an uproar and a groundswell of support for him and his family.

Neil Lennon said he wants to see accountability when it comes to online behaviour from trolls who continue to abuse high profile people for a variety of reasons.

Since James and his wife have gone public, there has been more support and Neil Lennon as well as the club added to that support today.
