Former Celtic academy player and captain Charlie Mulgrew pulled off a ridiculous free kick on Saturday in the League Cup group stage vs Arbroath for his new side Dundee Utd.

Mulgrew returned to Scottish football this summer and to Tannadice where he previously spent a loan spell while at Celtic.

The experienced utility man looks to be a leader already for his new side and on Saturday, he pulled off something rather special.

The goalkeeper will be unhappy he’s been beaten from distance but the cheekiness of the set-piece should be applauded.

Mulgrew steps up and dummies before his teammate does the same – he sees the keeper off his line and rattles it into the corner of the goal.

Charlie left Celtic just as the Brendan Rodgers era was getting underway. The player couldn’t come to terms with a new deal with the club and moved down south to Blackburn where he did very well.

He has spent the last five years in England before heading back to Scotland this summer to continue his career with the Arabs.

Hopefully he doesn’t have much joy against Celtic.
