In the dying embers of Celtic’s Europa League game against Astra last night, Celtic utility man Charlie Mulgrew was subject to a horror tackle by Cypriot Vincent Laban.
Charlie, who was trying to push the team forward for a winner took the ball and as he sent it up field to Leigh Griffith’s the player was brought to the floor by a reckless and completely intentional slide tackle that can only be described as a ‘leg breaker’.
The referee was quick to brandish the red card to Vincent but Charlie Mulgrew was more than lucky to walk away from the challenge.
Virgil van Dijk was giving a yellow for lifting his hand to the Cypriot, obviously incensed by the tackle on his teammate.
Celtic drew with the Romanian side on the night and were unlucky not to get the three points.
