Celtic fans have been hypercritical of Anthony Ralston. Some of the abuse has gone too far at times.
The defender was handed a new one-year extension to his deal simply because Celtic did not have the numbers.
Because he is the only right-back, the player has started every game for the Hoops so far. He started off slow but in the last three games, Anthony has been one of our top performers.
It’s a hard one, I’ve watched the defender take his chance so far and do very well. Two SPFL games two goals for the right-back – both fantastic finishes may I add.
We still 100% need another right-back in the door but is Ralston starting to turn heads and looking like a viable option or even back up to another defender this season?
Anthony is not stupid and will have seen the criticism about it from the support over the past six weeks. He looks like a man who’s using it as fuel to put in these performances.
I’ve often called the defender limited and I stand by that, I don’t think he’s the man you want when you’re playing high calibre opposition, but he’s doing himself proud and long may his good form continue.
Words I never imagined would come from my mouth, “Ralston was brilliant today”.
But he was outstanding. Probably still not a first choice full back, but playing like this he would certainly keep a more experienced player on his toes!
THEY can’t get rid of moreorless. He’s stagnant, unhappy, and a strain on the wages. I am oh so pleased to see him stay at the dopedrome. We bring in a wee Japanese player and he’s on fire. “The Bhoys Are Back In Town”. Slimy G will be possessed that we are back. Only one game I know, but some of our play today was BRILLIANT. Bring it on!!!
David Hay was a great young fullback who got turned into a fantastic midfield player – while i am not suggesting that Anthony Ralston is in the Davie Hay mould but ? There might be a position for him in midfield.
HH I totally GREE ANTHONY HAS BEEN VITOMIZED which is very wrong he was no getting game time he did play well against PSG ten dropped for no reason, As is now Ralston is playing very well getting more confidence which is what playing football is all about as working in any job when u first go there u’r just learning training before te job becomes easy and confidence same playing football Q should be asking why was a player. Last year profs these same players getting games and Celtic win nothing ST Johnston did better well done to them hh ktf
