Brendan Rodgers hit back at critics who have written off Celtic’s chances of retaining the Scottish Premiership.

With Celtic two points behind Rangers, some feel that momentum is on the other side of Glasgow, but the Irishman came out swinging after a vital 3-1 win over Motherwell in a confident mood.

Rodgers undoubtedly backs himself and the squad to retain the title, and despite doubts outside the club, he feels that he can achieve what would be one of the sweetest titles in the history of the club.

He said [Sky Sports], “The story is already written about the season and how it’s going to finish, but we will write our own story.

“Time will tell after 38 games, but I think the focus is purely on one game at a time.

“We had to respond today. We certainly never had it all our own way, but second half, the players were brilliant and responded so well. But now we’ve got to recover from that.”

With pressure on Rodgers and the squad, it appears that he uses that outside noise as motivation to prove doubters wrong, especially considering a number of people are now questioning his appointment in the summer.

The Irishman, despite the pressure of falling behind Rangers last weekend in the title race for the first time this season, is not panicking, and that is vital, especially considering his wealth of experience as a manager.

This will be crucial in navigating the remaining 11 league games, with two against Rangers remaining.
