CELTIC look like they won’t be signing Romaine Sawyers after reports down south claim a fee has been agreed between the midfielder’s current club Brentford and West Brom.

Sawyers has been linked heavily with Celtic for some time, but in the past two weeks reports of a deal have fallen silent on the player.

The Brentford captain is coming into the final year of his contract and was looking to make a move before the window.

Celtic have been in the market for a midfielder and have been looking around ever since David Turnbull’s transfer to the club fell through earlier this window.

Neil Lennon has been pressing on with adding to his defence with three out of the four men he has signed so far playing across the backline.

There is still over a month left for Celtic in the window and there will be no panic to see Romain go elsewhere. If the club wanted to do a deal for the player it certainly wouldn’t be outwith their reach with MailSport claiming the figure is around £2.9m
