West Ham boss David Moyes is once again having an impressive season with the Hammers as he looks to build even further upon their 6th place finish in the Premier League last season.

The London side currently sits in 4th place and could go three points clear of their nearest challengers today with a win over Aston Villa – having also knocked Manchester City out of the League Cup midweek too.

Speaking in an interview with the Independent about his current and recent success, Scottish boss David Moyes credited his upbringing at Celtic for his attitude towards the game and how he wants his teams to win.

He said: “It makes me feel really good because I’ve always said I want to be the best and the hardest team to play against – when teams don’t enjoy playing me.

“When I was brought up at Celtic, it was always about winning, first and foremost. Then it was about winning with style, and then when you get a good style, they wanted lots of goals. So I feel like my whole background has been in that.

“But when you don’t always have the best players and not always the best, maybe way of playing, then I have to find a way of winning. At the moment, I am really fortunate. I have a talented group of players; we’ve brought in some players who have helped that.

“So I feel we are playing a good style. I want us to be attacking and entertaining, but I also want to be defensive and ruthless when we have to be.”

Celtic fans got a taste of the football Moyes has his side playing, in the early stages of Ange Postecoglou’s reign as manager, when they travelled to Glasgow and defeated the Hoops 6-2.

Moyes hasn’t always been remembered as the type of manager to play the best or most attacking football down south. However, he has got this current West Ham team playing some nice stuff, and they will be looking for some silverware to back that up.

As always, it is nice to see a former player mention his early days in football with the club and somewhat credit it for his success at this current stage as a manager.
