MO Elyounoussi recently reflected fondly on his time with the Scottish club and the city of Glasgow.

Celtic Moi Elyounoussi

While on international duty with Norway, Elyounoussi shared his admiration for his former teammate, James Forrest, and the lasting impact Celtic and its players have had on him.

Elyounoussi expressed his admiration for Forrest’s longevity and consistency at Celtic. He was surprised to learn that Forrest, now 32, was not included in the Scotland squad but praised him for his continued valuable contributions to the team. Forrest’s ability to perform at a high level for so many years, scoring in 15 consecutive seasons, left a significant impression on Elyounoussi, who humorously noted the challenges of balancing family life with a professional football career.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 restrictions and a difficult second season for Celtic during his tenure, Elyounoussi’s experience at the club was largely positive. He expressed some regret about not having the opportunity to play in front of the Celtic fans for a longer period, acknowledging the unique atmosphere and support provided by the Celtic faithful.

“It’s amazing he’s 32 now – I wish I had those genes!” Elyounoussi said, quoted by the Glasgow Times.

“What a lad. He’s such a good guy, he’s very humble and it’s great to see he’s still going strong. I hope they will have a successful season ahead.

“I heard he’s scored in 15 seasons in a row. That is incredible and I don’t know if I will achieve that.

“I have children and he doesn’t have any yet – so that’s a big minus for me! I have two under four, so I have grey hair now.

“He’s such a top professional I am not surprised he is continuing to do it. The only surprise is when people tell me his age – because he still looks so young!

“I still follow Celtic and it’s great to see them doing so well. I hope they have another successful season ahead.

“I was only at the club for two years, but I still felt like a long time because I enjoyed it,” he said.

“I only had six months with fans and the rest was without. That was something I really missed, and it was something I was looking forward to, as that is why I stayed longer.

“But I have good memories on and off the pitch. They are good lads.

“I said to my wife it would be nice to come back and go to a game, see where we lived and just remember the good times.
