BRENDAN Rodgers has delivered an injury update on Liel Abada and Stephen Welsh, stating that the pair are expected to return in December.

The gaffer also confirmed that Maik Nawrocki has returned to training, as he looks to recover from the injury he picked up in the cup defeat against Kilmarnock.

However, one player that fans have been left in the dark about is Daizen Maeda.

The Japanese winger was supposed to go away with his country this break, with Kyogo and Hatate also in the squad.

However, he was surprisingly withdrawn from the squad, with the JFA citing injury.

It’s unclear how serious the injury was, or is, and Brendan Rodgers didn’t shed any light on it during the Celtic TV interview on Wednesday.

So, as Celtic prepare for the trip to Tynecastle to take on fourth-placed Hearts, Brendan Rodgers will hopefully provide an update on the winger in his pre-match press conference.

If he doesn’t, fans will be left in the dark until 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, when the team is announced.

  1. Maeda may not be badly injured. Last season he withdrew sighting tiredness (from his 120% work rate) so this maybe the case again or just a slight knock, and he may be prioritising the next month, as all last seasons top 6 teams away games will be completed and champions league crucial games are upcoming in the next 6 weeks.
