Celtic are currently in the process of searching for a new manager following the departure of Ange Postecoglou, who recently moved on to manage Spurs.

Kjetil Knutsen, the current manager of Bodo Glimt, which is at the top of the Norwegian Premier League, has been considered a strong candidate for the position. When questioned about his links to Celtic and Ajax, Knutsen gave a noncommittal response, stating that he is proud of his work with Glimt and that his focus is on that team.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times, Knutsen said: “Nice to be mentioned and very little fun to answer what you are speculating about.

“I am a coach in Glimt, incredibly proud of it and working in that team and with that group of players.

“That’s my focus, and it’s going to be hard to respond to speculation, because that’s really what it is.”

This response bears a striking similarity to Postecoglou’s own noncommittal responses to questions about his future just before his departure from Celtic. At that time, Postecoglou had said that he was “choosing to be selfish”, and had avoided directly answering questions, even though it was clear that his move to Spurs move was already well down the road.

Other potential candidates for the Celtic position include Brendan Rodgers, Enzo Maresca, David Moyes, John Kennedy, and Graham Potter. Celtic has confirmed that they are currently in the process of finding a new manager and aim to make an announcement as soon as possible, with the priority being to find the best candidate to lead the club forward.

Postecoglou expressed his gratitude to everyone at Celtic for their support during his tenure and stated that it was an honour to have managed the club. He also mentioned that he was presented with a new opportunity that he wanted to explore. During his time with Celtic, he contributed to the club’s success, culminating in a Treble win on what turned out to be his final game in charge.

  1. Only two guys should be asked and very very soon. Knutsen and Taissle(sp?) from Salzburg. Both play the right way and both have won stuff. We need a manager who knows how to win, is used to it and wants more of it. We will only have them for 2 years and then it is EPL, so get someone in that can make an impact immediately. The new guy should be ready to start on Monday. We need someone in to make contact with the guiys he wants to keep and persuade them the future for them for the next two/three years is Celtic. If they are not up for it replacements of a good standard need to be brought in as soon as the window opens Knutsen will have some Scandinavians in mind who will be available at a ‘Celtic’ price. What can Moyes offer? He has won nothing except a couple of medals at Celtic over 40 years ago. He isused to spending 15 – 20 million on one player and has not exactly been a roaring success at that. Did he not spend about 80-90 million last summer at West Ham (who were absolute gash last season. Maresca is a youth team manager. The Austrian is 35 but has won trophies. Stein was 39 when he took over at Celtic 40/41 when he won the Europen Cup. I am not saying he can be a Stein but his age should not count against him. If we don’t get him (second choice behind Knutsen) then Leipzig will and from there God knows what he might achieve. Get Knutsen, Celtic. Tomorrow.
