CRAIG GORDON has reportedly ‘begged’ Celtic to let him go this window so he can go elsewhere to play first team football.

The goalkeeper hasn’t been Celtic’s number one for over a year with Scott Bain taking over at the start of 2019 and Fraser Forster taking over in the summer.

Gordon has played some games this season but not enough for his liking and as he comes towards the end of the career Sunsport have revealed he’s asked to be released in attempt to find a new club and punch a potential ticket to the Euros.

The tabloid writes:

“SunSport can reveal the 37-year-old has begged to be allowed to join another club before Friday’s transfer deadline.

“Gordon has entered into the final six months of his £20,000-a-week contract with the Hoops and is unlikely to get a new deal.”

The same reports cites Hearts with an interest in bringing Gordon back to Tynecastle. If that was the case and Neil Lennon felt he could manage without Craig then a loan move would seem sensible – letting the player go get game time in the SPFL and not be able to play against Celtic.

Gordon has been a tremendous servant to Celtic since coming to the club. It looked like his career was over at one point and he came to Celtic and became an invincible treble winner and a treble treble champ. A modern day hero.
