Celtic midfielder David Turnbull last night hinted that he could be edging closer to a return to action after his long-term injury issues.

The 22-year old has been out of action since picking up a serious hamstring injury in the Premier Sports cup final victory against Hibernian.

Ange Postecoglou hasn’t given much away on the injury front when it comes to players’ recovery. However, taking to social media last night, Turnbull hinted he could be getting closer to a return, with one fan spotting his post on social media before it was taken down.

In the first half of the season, Turnbull was a consistent performer in the middle of the park under Postecoglou, playing every competitive game under the 56-year old until his injury in late December.

The midfielder also contributed heavily in terms of goals, providing 9 of his own, as well as setting up a further 7 for his teammates.

So, it would be another boost for Postecoglou to welcome the Scotland internationalist back into the fold, alongside the quality in the midfield such as Reo Hatate, Tom Rogic and Matt O’Riley.

It could also provide an indication for fellow injured Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi, with Ange stating previously that the frontman was ‘a few weeks behind’ with his return, in comparison to Turnbull.
