CELTIC were humbled by the Norwegian champions on Thursday night, soundly defeated 3-1.

However, Postecoglou and many of the fans were not pleased with the way the Bodo/Glimt players conducted themselves.

Bodo time-wasted from the second they took the lead. From the goalkeeper switching the side, he would take the goal kick from, to players going down ‘injured’ to the slightest of touches. The side even had a huddle after Celtic pulled one back, wasting even more time.

In fact, one of their players was lying still on the ground, but the second the ball was in Bodo’s attacking third, he was straight back up and provided an assist for the second goal.

Postecoglou had this to say on the matter; [Scotsman]

“It is part of football and not something I encourage my teams to do, but you understand why oppositions do that, it kills a bit of time.

It always amuses me when the referees say they are going to add time and it never really happens.

Yeah it was a bit unusual [the huddles], but I guess when you are winning you can get away with a bit. We just need to make sure we understand we got here not just from being free-flowing all the time, we have had to grit and grind our way through games.

Those kinds of qualities need to be there as well as the football we play.”

The manager knows that the tie is not over yet. Postecoglou’s side can score goals; they have demonstrated that throughout the season. If Celtic up their performance, they should progress to the next round of the competition.
