The debate over a controversial red card decision involving Celtic’s Hyunjun Yang refuses to die down, with Peter Grant launching a scathing attack on the Scottish Football Association (SFA) for sticking by their ruling.

In the aftermath of the highly contentious game against Hearts, Celtic appealed Yang’s expulsion and his subsequent three-match ban, only to be met with disappointment as the SFA stood firm on their decision.

Speaking out on The Go Radio Football Show, Grant didn’t mince his words, especially regarding the referees John Beaton, Don Robertson, and their supervisor Crawford Allan, who were involved in the review process. “But the referees, I have been disgusted in the fact that two of them [John Beaton and Don Robertson] when they take it into their leader Crawford Allan, if they three guys can’t get the right decision out of there, that tells you how bad a state we’re in terms of refereeing decisions,” he expressed.

Grant further elaborated on his views, saying, “He’s made the correct decision for giving a free kick if he says the boot’s high, fair enough. A yellow card I’d have argued with that. The red card was a disgrace, but not to change it. Then for them to go back to the [SFA] office and not to change it when Celtic have asked them to take a look at it and not to change it again. I’m not just saying this for Celtic, genuinely I’m saying this for football. VAR is a disgrace. And the referees are so poor if they can’t get that decision right.”

Celtsarehere reported on Wednesday night that the Celtic hierarchy is seething with the SFA’s handling of all of this, especially after the appeal was dismissed and Brendan Rodgers was charged for his comments on the officials’ competence.

We understand the club is seeking clarifications and pushing for an accelerated hearing for Rodgers, particularly since it’s scheduled just before a significant match against Rangers. This move raises questions about the timing and its potential impact. Celtic’s stance underscores a demand for transparency and improved officiating standards, beyond just the specifics of this incident.

  1. What a rancid core bunch we have running Scottish football. Chairman of Raith Rovers, Turnbull Hutton outed this lot and the label still sticks. They do NOT care about Scottish Football as long as they follow the company line,,, helping the Ragers to beat Celtic, on or off the park. They are really up for a fight with Celtic. Get the boot right in Celtic. They faun at the idea they upset their pals in Govan. Give them something to remember. The bunnet wouldn’t let them away with it, don’t you let them away with is?

  2. All just chill out. Do not worry Celtic will win the league nae bother!!
