The Celtic support is in a state of shock after the breaking news on Friday that Dom McKay has stepped down as Celtic CEO – including me!
Three months into the role, McKay leaves with the official line being ‘personal reasons’. It’s hard to make sense of things when the board have been vague but it goes without saying, if it truly is personal reasons then we wish Dom and his family all the best.
This is a developing story and we’re likely to find out more as the days go on.
The one thing for Celtic fans this evening will be the worry any of the positives that Mckay was bringing to the table – like modernisation, fan engagement and structural change is now out the window.
Celtic appointing a board member who has been at the club for 8 years will give many fans a sense of hopelessness.
On the face of it, Dom was seen as our ticket away from the old way of doing things. We’re now a club with no direction as to what we want to be.
The changes needed behind the scenes to make this club reach its potential can’t be realised under these circumstances. Just when we thought we could focus on the football, this happens
Indeed this is a hugely disappointing state of affairs. The need for all aspects of our club to be modernised cannot be overstated and the lack of any ‘new and fresh’ input from the new CEO (8 years already at Celtic) is a major worry for me. Still, we have many new players and an exciting approach to football under Ange so the key will be how much the new CEO will genuinely partner with Ange. Of course, Michael Nicholson is ‘acting’ CEO so the board may decide this is temporary pending a new search…….pigs might fly before that happens though. Very uncomfortable news.

Personal reasons, that old neanderthal chestnut basically means the D.D.board carousel is alive and well with Peter the Pied Piper the parrot on McKay.s shoulder , FFSK.sake when will that moron clear out of Celtic park and get a real job, and as per rhetorical pish from the kerrydale Kremlin, wishing the patsy all the best etc.etc, thanking him for his sabatical at cfc , crocodile tears regarding family, blah blah fkn blah
