Celtic winger Liel Abada is being given some attention in the press after making some cryptic comments about his playing time on the park.

The 21-year-old is closing in on making 100 appearances for the Hoops this season but there has been some speculation about his future in recent weeks.

Israel boss Alon Hazan had indicated that Abada wasn’t able to agree to a new contract at Celtic which was possibly why he wasn’t playing as many games for the Scottish champions.

He is currently contracted to Celtic until 2026 and much like the situations with Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis, Ange Postecoglou is in control of the situation

Abada was worthy of a start against Hearts midweek after making a huge impact from the bench in Paisley against St Mirren as he got on the scoresheet and also bagged an assist.

His stats since arriving in Glasgow have been absolutely phenomenal having made 93 appearances for Celtic, scored 27 goals and provided 18 assists which were hailed by Postecoglou who described his numbers as ‘extraordinary’.

Postecoglou did however refuse to praise the player when he was asked about him not taking the huff due to his lack of starts. The manager has continually emphasised that it is not his job to keep players happy as they are at one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

Speaking to Israeli media ahead of Euro 2024 qualifiers against Kosovo and Switzerland the young winger gave a pretty cryptic answer when asked about his lack of starts.

“I’m coming on as a substitute, there are things behind it that people don’t know. I don’t want to go into too much detail,” said Abada speaking to [Sport 5].
