Celtic centre-forward Adam Idah has revealed the role one of his Parkhead striking predecessors has played in his career.

Teemu Pukki was a teammate of Idah at Norwich for four years as he took the young Irishman under his wing. The Finnish frontman made 37 appearances for the Hoops, scoring nine goals.

It didn’t quite work out for him in Glasgow, but his career blossomed post-Celtic. At Carrow Road, he was not just a key player for Norwich but for Idah also.

Speaking on the Official Celtic FC Podcast, the 23-year-old gave some background to his relationship with Pukki: “To me personally, he was very influential”, he said.

“What he’s done for me on and off the pitch was really helpful for me.

“I’ve spoken to him a few times about Celtic, I don’t think he had the best of starts here.

“He’s an unbelievable guy, an unbelievable player, so people like that are always great to learn from.”

A hugely experienced professional, having someone like Pukki as a mentor would have benefitted Idah massively. The loanee is a completely different player from the now Minnesota United man, but he likely learned a lot from being his understudy.

Now at Celtic, he has a significant role to play in the title race. Alongside the talented Kyogo, Idah has a responsibility to score goals and help the Hoops to secure the silverware come May.
