ALEX RAE has made some pretty outlandish comments about Celtic and their relationship with the SPFL this week after the Ibrox club’s dossier EGM was thrown out by a large majority.

Instead of accepting the result and being a good sport about it, Alex Rae had thrown mud at Celtic by his suggestive wording.

He claims he’s not surprised that Peter Lawwell and celtic spoke up during the EGM against the Ibrox vote.

Alex Rae has been doing the round in the media talking about Celtic an awful lot lately. This keeps to form for the ex-Gers player who doesn’t mind playing to the galleries.

To suggest Celtic wouldn’t speak up at all with so much in-fighting and accusations being thrown around is preposterous. What did Alex want Celtic to do in this scenario, simmer down and stay hush?

Speaking to SunSport, Alex Rae:

“I think it’s a wee bit naive to suggest that there is no evidence until you look at the full picture.

“Until you actually look at all these particular grievances, to suggest that there’s no substance to it is just ludicrous.

“If you don’t continue to look at your working practices and why they’ve been questioned, you will never improve as a governing body.

“And for me, they have to look at this stuff.

“If you’ve got a third of your members questioning these practices, it would be beyond belief to not try and take the concerns of the members you represent seriously.

“I’m not exactly sure what Celtic’s relationship with the SPFL is.

“But let me just put it bluntly, it did not surprise me that Celtic spoke up prior to the vote and subsequently after it.

“Not in the slightest because they’ve just been sitting back.”

Opinion

Alex Rae was hoping this would be the year that Steven Gerrard would topple Celtic. It didn’t happen because when the going got tough, the side he supports blew it. Since then, it seems like a personal crusade to try and belittle the club at any point.

Rae knows he has the audience for it, however, the rant above does start sliding towards paranoia.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if it’s because he doesn’t want Celtic to be recognised as champions, it has to be challenged.
