Celtic right-back Alistair Johnston has responded to his team’s thrilling 3-3 draw at Ibrox this afternoon in which an incident involving him was the centre of attention.

The defender, who started and played the full 90, looked to limit the threat of Fabio Silva down the Hoops’ right-hand side.

When the Wolves loanee looked to skip by him, though, he dramatically fell to the ground.

John Beaton initially awarded Celtic a free-kick for Silva’s simulation but VAR soon got involved and the decision was changed. Unsurprisingly, Rangers were given a penalty.

Although Johnston’s leg did connect with the attacker’s ever so slightly, the Canadian got a touch on the ball beforehand. It is difficult to comprehend why a spot-kick was awarded and post-match on Instagram, the 25-year-old was a man of few words.

On his story, Johnston shared Celtic’s post of today’s full-time result and captioned it with two simple emojis – one was a zipped mouth and the other showed an unsure face.

With this post, Johnston is undoubtedly getting a dig at the questionable decision that was made involving him. Celtic have been the butt of poor officiating several times this season, and today can be added to the list.
