Alistair Johnston was asked about the decision NOT to award Celtic a penalty during the 2-2 draw at Ibrox on Monday. The new Hoops defender was unequivocal in his opinion it was a penalty.

Alistair made his Celtic debut in the Glasgow Derby and watched as the referee proceeded to wave play on after the decision.

The Celtic full-back told Clyde one, it’s hard to argue it’s not a penalty. However, despite the clear injustice and quarters of the Scottish press trying to say otherwise, Alistair is more focussed on what Celtic can do next.

“I think it’s hard to argue that’s a natural hand position. As a defender, especially, you put your hand up there you generally run the risk. For me, I obviously thought it was a pen”

It’s a clear hand ball and the bhoys should have been awarded the spot kick. The Canadian did get one thing wrong, it isn’t hard for some of the pundits in our game to argue the opposite. Some have embarrassed themselves by their stance on the issue.

Blinkers on everywhere, when we all know as the incident took place, they would have all been holding their breath hoping VAR would then a blind eye.

  1. Really impressed with out new bhoy – thought he did very, very well. What’s also good – doesn’t he speak well?? Very intelligent and thoughtful!
