ANGE POSTECOGLOU revealed he has spoken with Gordon Strachan after the former Celtic boss took up a three month advisory role with the club.

Fans were shocked to hear Strachan was coming back to Celtic in an official capacity on Tuesday after it was confirmed by the club.

The former title winning boss will still keep his technical director role at Dundee during the same period.

Asked about the situation, Ange didn’t have too much to say and it sounds as if the manager has taken a back seat on this temporary appointment.

“I have met Gordon and he is a very passionate football person which I kind of like.” The manager told CelticTV.

“The information I have had is that we are keen to tap into his knowledge of the club in terms of some of the structures around the club, particularly around the academy and women’s football which I think is really important infrastructure-wise.

“But again, how much that comes on my radar at the moment, this is probably the first time I have thought about it.”

When it comes to the modern game and the way Celtic should be setting up — it just doesn’t make a lot of sense to bring in a guy who is more attached to a bygone era.

Dom McKay promised modernisation — I think the CEO should listen to a whole host of footballing people but Strachan consulting alone is counter productive as far as I can see.

We’ll see what it brings — but right now there are major questions surrounding Dom’s plans and the way we’re going about implementing them.
