ANGE POSTECOGLOU was in attendance at Hampden Park to watch the Youth Academy Celts run out 6-5 winners against The Rangers just days after his first team put the Ibrox club to the sword.

Celtic won their first Youth Scottish Cup since 2017 in a pulsating game.

What intrigued many Celtic fans was seeing the Celtic manager side by side with Peter Lawwell, something that’s not been seen to this point.

Chief Executive Michael Nicholson was also there in the Celtic suite and they looked to be enjoying themselves!

The Celtic manager will still be on a high from his side’s win at Hampden in front of a sold-out Hampden. It was great to see the Australian take the time out to watch the young lads in action.

People don’t really associate Peter Lawwell and Ange Postecoglou. Lawwell left his job as chief executive before Ange came in and the new man at the time Dom McKay was the man to stand beside the new Celtic boss as he was paraded to the press and fan media.

McKay would only last three months in the role before he and the club parted ways.

It transpired in the aftermath of Dom’s departure that Ange’s appointment had much more to do with Peter Lawwell than first thought. It was Peter’s son Mark, who now works for Celtic who put Ange on the Parkhead club’s radar. Mark had dealt with Ange being part of the City group that had a stake in Yokohama Marinos – the club Ange was managing. Peter then put Ange’s name on a shortlist. When the Eddie Howe deal fell through, the club jumped for Ange and the rest is history.

Peter has always been behind the scenes despite leaving his post officially. It was then unsurprising when he was made the new Celtic chairman when Ian Bankier stood down.
