It has been confirmed that Celtic and Ange Postecoglou will head to Japan for pre season ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Hoops will embark upon a European camp before heading to the land of the rising sun where they will spend a week.

Upon official confirmation of the trip, Hoops gaffer Ange Postecoglou told official club media how prosperous it will be:

“We are really looking forward to our summer tour to Japan, and we’re sure it will be hugely successful for the club and excellent preparation for next season.”

Throughout the past few decades, Celtic have had a strong relationship with Japan which has particularly been reinforced in the past 18 or so months.

Postecoglou said it will be great to see the connection brought to life:

“Clearly, Celtic has a real, long-standing connection with Japan, through previous visits and players such as Shunsuke Nakamura and, of course, now through our current squad members, so it will be great to visit and really bring this relationship to life.”

As well as helping to strengthen Celtic’s connection with Japan, the tour also provides the club with several marketing opportunities:

“As we saw from our brilliant visit to Australia last year, the appetite for Celtic globally is huge and it is right that we maximise these great opportunities and show the world all that is great about our club.”

Finally, Postecoglou said the tour will let Celtic pay homage to its Japanese assets whilst preparing the squad well for next season:

“Japanese football is on a real upward trajectory at the moment, so we know we will be facing real tests, something which will be great for the team as we go into the challenges of next season.”

Overall, Celtic’s tour to Japan is only positive.

Ange Postecoglou certainly agrees with this and it is amazing that the Hoops have the opportunity to embark upon journeys like this one now that they no longer have to be involved in gruelling European qualifiers.
