ANGE POSTECOGLOU has a unique style of play. His inverted full-backs, high-pressing, fast-flowing football has developed the name ‘AngeBall’.

When he first arrived oni Scotland, those who had previously watched his teams revealed that he wouldn’t change his style of play, no matter who the opposition was. Some fans were wary of this and became worried.

However, it showed how confident he was in his management. After all, it had been getting him results nearly everywhere he had managed.

In his longest interview since becoming Celtic manager, the Aussie boss confirmed to Optus Sport that his style wouldn’t be changing, saying;

“Well, I don’t see any reason why I should (change), because I’ve had so much success,” Postecoglou explained.

“I mean, I managed South Melbourne to two championships. I managed Brisbane to two championships. Melbourne Victory, I only had them for a year, I got them into the Champions League. I won an Asian Cup, got us to a World Cup. I won a championship in Japan.

I’d be absolutely dumb to change my approach, even though that’s what people have constantly said to me.

“But what I’ve tried to explain to people is that I don’t do this because I want to prove something, oh, I love this kind of football. I do this because it’s successful. I know that that’s the way to success.”

From the very start, Postecoglou’s philosophy was evident on the pitch. Even when West Ham were hammering us 6-2, the team was still trying to play football as their manager instructed them.

Over the summer, Ange will continue to work with his team, admitting they are far from where he wants them to be.

With more signings to arrive, it’s scary to think how good Celtic could be in the coming years.
