On Tuesday it was Brendan Rodgers being linked with a sensational move to Barcelona if they decide to end Ronald Koeman’s tenure – but another Celt has emerged as the rumour mill goes into full swing.

The Catalans are struggling with life after Messi and are a club shrouded in debt. While Barcelona are one of the top and most recognisable clubs in the world – the way things are going right now don’t look good.

Koeman currently has former Celtic hero and Barcelona star Henrik Larsson at the Camp Nou as a coach and the Swede could head for the exit alongside Koeman.

While Brendan has been linked to the role – RecordSport explained Belgium Boss Roberto Martinez is in the Catalans sights and he would almost certainly take one Shaun Maloney with him to Barcelona if the call did come.

Maloney was a coach at Celtic just after retiring but less than a year into his role – Roberto Martinez came calling with Belgium and the former Celtic youth academy player has been with the Spaniard ever since.

Having Shaun Maloney track side at the Camp Nou would be an incredible moment for his career.
