CHARLIE NICHOLAS has slammed the Ibrox club after they chose to lock Neil Lennon and Chris Sutton out, despite assisting BT Sport with their Europa League match coverage.

The pair were set to be part of the punditry team before Ibrox bosses denied them access claiming they were a security risk.

Many other pundits have had their rant about the ridiculous decision that was taken on the day when Celtic played in Seville and Charlie Nicholas has now voiced his opinions on the matter.

“Steven Gerrard said when Rangers won the Premiership title last season his club would stay humble. Well, they’ve failed. There’s not one single ounce of humility in that Ibrox boardroom right now. Rangers are coming across like spoiled little brats and their behaviour has been an absolute embarrassment.

“Last week ex-Celtic men Neil Lennon and Chris Sutton were denied the chance to broadcast from inside Ibrox because the BT Sports pundits were deemed a ‘security risk’. This pathetic excuse comes hot on the heels of Rangers wanting money from the mainstream media to cover games and press conferences at Ibrox. Honestly, Rangers’ behaviour is now becoming so embarrassing to the SPFL.

“If Rangers want to fight everybody, then every other club should band together and confront them. It’s as if they don’t want to make our game better, but are more than happy to insist the authorities have sold it short. It is the strongest the top league has been in a long time but it looks like Rangers want to choke it. They can’t be allowed to take other clubs down a road that’s going to make everything so much worse.”

The decision taken by the Govan side demonstrates their pettiness. No club should obstruct TV coverage and no pundit should be excluded on the grounds of security.

The Ibrox club have come under for for a lot of quarters over the last week because of the situation. BT are currently considering their own position and the way forward of the ban for Chris is set to be a permanent thing

  1. Don’t cover Rangers games … we can’t have a 12 year old club dictating terms of TV coverage .. If BT pull the plug every club will be worse off..
