ARTUR BORUC will play the final game of his career against Celtic for Legia Warsaw in July – when the two teams get together to honour the goalkeeper before be bows out of the game.

Artur has had a fantastic career that’s taken him across Europe, playing in Scotland, England, Italy and Poland.

During his time at Celtic, The Pole won three League titles, 2 League Cups and a Scottish Cup.

Some of his major moments coming with penalties. Three of them stand out to me in particular. The save in the Spartak Moscow penalty shootout at Celtic Park to seal a Champions League place, the penalty save against Manchester United at Celtic Park minutes after Nakamura scored the stunning free-kick that would win the game, and who could forget Artur slamming the ball in the top corner of the net against Dundee Utd at Hampden in the semi-final of the League Cup.

The holy goalie is set to hang up his gloves and Celtic have been called upon to be his last opponent, something the majority of Celtic fans will support.

Speaking about the game, why he’s retiring and what’s next for him, Artur was very honest and confessed his love for Celtic.

Boruc said: “I will play the last game in my career in the colours of Legia against Celtic, whom I also support and are a club very close to me, where I spent great years.

“The match is a very nice initiative on the part of Legia, a really good ending to my adventure. I am very happy with this match.

“Unfortunately, my advancing years and health doesn’t allow me to represent the colours of Legia Warsaw at an appropriate level. So I decided to stop.

“Ultimately, I think that I will not live in Poland, my wife and I think about the United States – perhaps sunny California, to have warm and beautiful weather for 300 days a year.” [RecordSport]

Celtic will play the game in Poland on July 20th. Some of the Legia fans have been on social media not too happy Celtic have been called upon after through no fault of Celtic’s the Polish side managed to get themselves kicked out of Europe for fielding and ineligible player.

At the time, Legia beat Celtic convincingly but making a sub late in the game, with a player who wasn’t eligible meant UEFA kicked them out of the competition. Some Legia fans are still salty.

The friendly for Artur should be played in good spirits.
