BBC Sportsound lost any credibility it had left on Saturday when it allowed a DUP member onto its show to discuss Scottish football.

Gregory Campbell was welcomed to give his opinion on the situation surrounding the end of this season. The DUP member is the lowest of the low and can be seen in one documentary about Ireland saying he would take arms if Northern Ireland was ever to leave the UK and rejoin Ireland.

He is also a staunch Gers fan and protestant loaded a gun on TV while talking about the trouble. He is a bigot.

Michael Stewart sounded visibly annoyed when the DUP member was introduced. It would transpire he wasn’t told about Gregory coming on the show. Stewart thanks ‘Some’ contributors after the show, but left out Campbell, for obvious reasons.

This is a massive own goal but it should leave little doubt in Celtic supporters minds, what’s happening over at BBC. Stewart was silenced because he had the guts to talk about James Traynor and almost lost his job.

This is licence funding programming, remember this.

The podcast has no sign of Campbell anywhere on it, he has obviously been cut out after the uproar.

  1. It is fairly obvious that this bigot was specifically chosen for this show because of his biased views. The problem I have is with whoever’s picked him to appear. This person should not be allowed to work for a public service broadcaster as they are allowing all of their own personal biases to select “guests” who reflect this. Look at all of the others that regularly appear on the show who have an ibrox bias, Alex Rae, Gordon Smith, Ally McCoist, etc. Then the others such as Chris McLaughlin and that eejit Tom English who thinks that they are being clever by stirring up controversies. It is time for BBC Scotland to be cleared out or shut down. To think that we have pay for this garbage is disgusting.
