Celtic have had problem positions this year but none more so than the goalkeeper.

We’re less than half way through the season and we’ve already had THREE separate goalkeepers have a run in goals.

The man brought in to replace Fraser Forster this summer was Vasilis Barkas, however, it looks like it’s been a major error of judgement on the scouting side of things.

Barkas is much better than he’s showing but he seems like a fish out of water in Celtic’s goal.

We now have a situation where Celtic’s fourth choice goalkeeper last season could be in goals for the club in a cup final.

Frank McAvennie has not pulled any punches about Barkas since coming into the club but he also questions the scouting behind the move.

“My God, Barkas is awful,” he told Football Insider.

“I feel for him though because the boy has come in, made a mistake and then realised how big a club Celtic is. He has been getting slaughtered from pillar to post.

“The recruitment at Celtic needs to be looked at because it has not been good enough, Barkas included.”

Right now, it feels as if Celtic will look to cut their losses in January but if they can’t find a suitable number one, Barkas could get one more shot.
