AC Milan got off the hook big time on Wednesday night and know one knows that more than their striker Mario Balotelli.

Celtic were more than a match for the Italian giants in their opening Champions League encounter, eventually going down 2-0 in a score line which flattered Milan.

The former Man City striker was very candid when speaking about Wednesday’s game and knows it could have been a whole lot different.

“The truth is Celtic did not deserve to lose that game on Wednesday – every player in our dressing-room knew that after the match.”

Mario also believes the Celtic players should be uplifted by how well they actually played.

“Celtic can either be downhearted. Or they can take confidence from the way they played against one of the top teams in Europe.”

Celtic will take some comfort from their performance but know they must improve in the coming weeks if they’re to make any sort of mark in Group H.

There are no easy games at this level and we must perform.
