Former Celtic academy star Liam Morrison has been handed a new deal at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich which shall keep him at the club until 2025 [FC Bayern Munich].

Morrison’s current deal was set to expire this summer but the club had seen enough in the youngster to offer him a new deal.

He has been regularly playing for Bayern’s B team but has also been called up to first team training which says a lot about his progression in recent years. Morrison suffered a horrendous knee ligament injury which kept him out long term but he has since bounced back.

The 19-year-old still has a very bright future ahead of him and will be hoping that he eventually gets the chance to make his competitive debut for the first team at some point.

Morrison departed Glasgow almost four years ago now as he took a huge gamble, but it now appears to be paying off as a first team chance looks as though it could be drawing ever closer.

It’s always interesting to see how academy players from Celtic get on to see if the system which is in place does produce top talent.

Ange Postecoglou is hoping that some of the Hoops B team players will soon make an impact in the first team squad.
