BHOYS Celtic are showing solidarity with the Green Brigade and have announced that they will not be attending the Aberdeen match on Sunday.

Celtic

It comes after the group walked out of the game against St Mirren after they displayed their banner at the start of the game.

Through a statement, the Bhoys said they stood with the Green Brigade, who are currently banned by the club until further notice. They also joined the call for the club to meet with the ultra-group. The statement on their Instagram page read:

“We were very disappointed by the board’s latest statement in relation to their banning of the green brigade and the circus surrounding it.

“Once again, we reject any justification of excessive collective punishment of an entire group and section of fans, and oppose the dangerous precedent it sets.

“To convey our continued frustration, and to demonstrate our solidarity, we will not be present in the stadium for our match against Aberdeen on Sunday.

“We call on the board to meet with the green brigade as requested, and come to a satisfactory resolution over the international break.

“The outcome of this dialogue will determine our next steps.”

It’s going to be another weird atmosphere at the stadium on Sunday, but the ban is something that the club feel is necessary. They’ve made it clear, through numerous statements, that the ban is not because of flying the Palestinian flags, but for a number of safety concerns.

It’s going to be a big game for the Hoops, as they look to maintain their eight-point lead over second place.

  1. There have been lots of times I have disagreed with the Green Brigade’s displays, but not this time. If I was physically able I’d stand shoulder to shoulder with them on this one.

The IDF are bombing kids who weren’t old enough to vote for Hamas as Palestine’s average age proves. The action of fascist Bibi are a war crime and people standing by him should answer this: If someone in your grown kid’s neighbourhood killed a baby would you be OK with the police levelling the block including your kid and your grandkids? No? Then why are you OK with what convicted fraudster and known racist Bibi is doing?

And to the whin– ‘this is no place for politics’ people, you support a club based on charity and inclusion. Quick definition of the word: politics is the how and why of the distribution of power. Charity and inclusion are political ideals, every time you buy merch or tickets you are doing politics. You do politics, it’s not a question, your every action and non-action is a political decision. ‘I don’t do politics’ is such a calorie bite of nonsense, I wish th– people would stop saying it.

I love football, but there are things that matter more and I applaud the GB for sharing this conviction HH

  2. I stand with Palestine like all decent human being should. I stand with all the kidnapped innocents as well. Basically I stand for moral human rights and a place on this disgusting planet for every single human being to live peacefully where ever they are. What the Jews are doing to these innocent people baby’s children woman and men being slaughtered for what a disgusting terror group has done. We all know the Jews have done disgusting things to Palestinians for decades basically have kept them in an open prison and abused thaire human rites . This is not even an argument its fact. But terror is not the answer hamas are terrorists. I will fly the Palestine flag until they are free from thaire Jewish prison . I love my club iv been a celtic suporter for 60yrs since the day I was born. I love the atmosphere yhe green brigade bring bri g to celtic . I absalutly hate the songs about IRA and the political garbage they bring to celtic park my mother father and grandparents came over from Ireland when it was at its worst driven out because my grandparents were married and one was Catholic one protestant. I love celtic becayse most of the celtic people I know are decent people who don’t care what religion or colour you are this is a club who stand up for the poor the deprived and anyone in need. But celtic is a football club a sporting club I don’t go to see my team for political reasons I go to cheat them on thru thick and thin . I’m there to see them play football to get away from all the disgusting news coming from the world we live in. I don’t need the disgusting songs the idiot banners the smoke pyrotechnics it makes me unwell when I have to breath this in. And most of those young lads prob don’t even know anything about what they are singing about. So I applaud my club for bringing them to account. I hope an agreement can be sought and they can agree to stop all the political rubbish out of celtic park . And they can return and bring thaire atmosphere back. Hail hail god bless Palestine 🇵🇸 and set them free.

    • I agree with you. Flares are dangerous with the temperatures they burn at, but also to other people in the stadium with breathing conditions. IRA song are not acceptable either. You can’t condemn the killing in Palestine and support an organisation who also bombed innocent woman and children. I don’t agree with the way the conflict in Gaza is going and agree that there needs to be a long term solution, but through the proper channels.

  3. Celtic FC have said that their stance is to do with health and safety. GB should get round the table and agree to all H&S requests..this is only responsible behaviour anyway.
Once back in the stadium get the Palestine flags and support banners back out and lets see if Celtic FC object to that. If they do then every Celtic supporter should then stand shoulder to shoulder with the GB.

  4. Great news, thats 2 groups absent tomorrow who have a strange obsession with the IRA.

The rest of us will concentrate on supporting Celtic FC.

Seems to be a strange concept for some to get their heads around.

  5. Palestine & Israel are NOTHING to do with Celtic.
Only Celtic flags should be present at our matches.
    Support & sing for Celtic.
    Cut out the pyros.
    Cut out the hate propaganda.
We want Celtic, no more no less just Celtic.
Those who have interests in other countries issues can go live there and aid them physically.
We were once ambassadors for Celtic in Europe.
Now many of so our called fans are just asses in Europe.
If you can’t behave and respect Celtic, then leave, no one is holding you back.

    • What is occurring in Gaza involves everyone on this planet.

We are seeing genocide being played out in full technicolour on our TV screens.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

  6. Hail hail…..I’m with the bhoys n the brigade. They get banned but the wee fanny that sits in the family area calling the opposition fucking arseholes…….that’s OK for all to listen too !!!!!! What’s wrong people does no one want to have to explain about the exploitation of the Palestinians and their land to their kids !!! No……..but u will let them listen to the bad language from fans !!!!! I understand about flares….dangerous but flags !!!!!! Seriously don’t want to get hit with one of those. And silencing people’s opinions……..I think there’s a name for that……..yeah get I touch with reality ppl

  7. If Celtic lose the league cayse if this protest there will be no sympathy for green brigade and they will never be welcome back a war thats been going on for years so behave your not in nothern ireland 500 hundred or less upsetting players

  8. Bully for you Jack. “They won’t be welcome back” …WTF gave you the right to say that ? You and the rest of the holocaust deniers on here should crawl back to whichever hole you came out of. A lot of those people were at Celtic long before some of you were born or turned yer coat to become “Celtic” supporters, amidst your culpable ignorance and lack of education.(as shown by your grammar !)Those lhads were born into Celtic. Its in their Irish blood. Try reading Mark above and then go study the world not just yer parochial shithole. Celtic are political !

  9. Maybe the Board will use the opportunity to rid the fanbase of these Marxists as well. Politics have no place in sport. People go to games at the weekend to get away from this kind of misery and just relax and enjoy the game. Enough of this anarchy from these pretend fan groups.

  10. Celtic is not a “political” entity and never was. Brother Walfrid, the founder of the club, was as far from political as they come. As for Mark making the ridiculous statement that doing charity is doing politics, it’s he (and you, Sean) who need educated. True chairty is a supernatural virtue that has love of God as its foundation and love of neighbour as its objective. It is primarily concerned with the salvation of souls, though also takes in concern for human welfare. What you pair seem to be referring to is humanitarianism, which is not true charity because it does not proceed from love of God and the good of immortal souls. Charity is a very abused word these days, largely because people have no real conception of the meaning of the term.

Besides that, no honest person or institution can be “inclusive” of any and all, unless that person or institution is absent of all moral principles. The proper term for Celtic is that it is “tolerant”. There’s a massive difference between the two, for tolerance has a breaking point when situations become untenable, such as with the Red Brigade at this time. Let’s keep the conversation honest in future and not indulge in sophistry to disfigure Celtic’s foundational principles and the club’s standards.
