We have been keeping you up to date with the very latest in Celtic’s pursuit of Charlton player Alfie Doughty and this morning it’s being reported the Scottish Champions have had a bid rejected.

Nicky Hammond was in attendance for Charlton’s game against Swindon at the weekend with the Charlton boss Lee Bowyer confirming Celtic had made a bud but it had been thrown out.

“We did turn down an offer from Celtic,” confirmed Lee Bowyer, speaking to South London Press.

“And they were at the game at the weekend, from what I understand. But we’ve not heard anything since.”

Alfie can play left side of a midfielder four and also full-back. Celtic are looking for left-sided competition for Greg Taylor this season with Boli Bolingoli almost certain to leave the club before the October transfer deadline.

The bhoys haven’t put their eggs in one basket but Alfie would be seen as one of the cheaper options on their list. Alfie has a growing reputation in the game and Charlton doesn’t want to lose him. However, the player is on the final year of his Charlton deal, so Charlton don’t have full control over the situation.
