The Staggies are travelling to Celtic Park for the first game of the season and are looking to have a better season than last, avoiding relegation in a penalty shootout.

Looking ahead to the match, Brendan Rodgers said to Celtic TV:

“There are a couple of days to go, but we will be ready for Saturday when it matters,” Rodgers said, commending his players for their diligent pre-season work. “The players have worked very hard and have lots of minutes in their legs. They are coming off the back of a game on Saturday as well. It all helps the preparation. I am really pleased.”

The Celtic boss has prioritised refining tactical details in the lead-up to the match but overall, he is content with the team’s progression and preparations.

“We will refine some tactical details over the next few days but overall, I am really happy and we will be ready for the weekend.”

The season opener is not just the start of a new season, but it also signifies the end of the celebrations for Celtic’s treble win and their triumphant league victory last season. Rodgers emphasised the importance of focusing on the future, not just the past success.

“I think Saturday brings to an end the celebration of winning the treble and of course winning the league, which is the bread and butter. As soon as that flag is up we are looking to not just defend it but also win it again. That all starts on Saturday.”

With the weekend’s match on the horizon, Rodgers is set to ensure Celtic maintains its winning momentum and starts the new season on the right foot. After a treble-winning season, the Bhoys will be eager to retain their title and continue their winning ways.
