The Green Brigade chose not to attend James Forrest’s testimonial match on Tuesday night, as Celtic took on Athletic Club.

Green Brigade

The James Forrest Testimonial followed the Scott Brown Testimonial as the second prominent player tribute that the group chose to skip.

The Green Brigade don’t attend testimonials.

The Green Brigade’s conspicuous absence at these testimonials has sparked off a wave of speculation and light-hearted ribbing on social media.

However, there’s a certain irony here – a fan group known for their passionate support of Celtic deciding not to attend matches that celebrate Celtic’s most dedicated players.

No doubt, the fan group will be back in their section for Flag Day, as Celtic look to defend all three domestic trophies. The atmosphere they create is invaluable and they do act as the 12th man at times, and the team clearly get a boost from the support.

It’ll be interesting to see what sort of reaction Brendan Rodgers receives, with the group voicing their disapproval of his appointment when the club announced his return.

  1. Brendan got a terrific responce from CELTIC supportersas did James Forrest a guy who has served the club brilliantly. What a group of self indulgent, statement writers will do is of no concern to the majority of CELTIC supporters

  2. If they make any public statement against the return of Brendan Rodgers, thereby affecting the mindset of the team, then Dermot Desmond should, and probably will, disband them.

    • I doubt it Martin, how many people do you know want to give up where the sit already for a rail seat in a section even the green brigade want to move from

  3. I don’t blame them…. In modern day football….players earn more than enough and should be set up for life with just their salaries alone!! Welcome to the real world!! I can speak from experience as a few of my old mates were ex players who received testimonials… they were already comfortable… living in nice debt free homes etc… then they get £1 million on top… (needless to say, 1 of them mates did infact squander the full amount within 5 years!!) I won’t name them…. just think of Edinburgh based Old Firm players from a near distant past!!

  4. Yes but will that not make it look that they are more important than other fans they are celtic fans green brigade a name do we start separating them from celtic fan if so do they get specail ticket allocatation thaey are separating themselves from the norm

  5. Who cares ..
Your not telling me they were not at the game if they were true fans they were elsewhere just trying to make somestupid point……We Are Celtic not just a group of self indulgent little boys

  6. I simply do not get any Celtic fan who supports these imbeciles. What exactly are the supporting?

The illegal and dangerous use of flares?

The illegal and dangerous use of smoke bombs?

The singing of vile anti-protestant songs, RITG etc?

Despite their actions dragging the name of our club through the mud on numerous occasions, the GB have a very cosy relationship with the PLC. How else can we explain them scoring the best tickets for away games? Rebels my bony ass. They are even worse that the casuals were back in the day. Get them TF.

    Hail Hail.
