With five league games and a cup final to go, things couldn’t get any bigger for Celtic as the season reaches its climax.

The Hoops currently lead their rivals Rangers at the top of the table by three points ahead of the run-in, but there is still a wealth of football to be played.

One imagines there to be many twists in the tale between now and the season’s end, but manager Brendan Rodgers has urged his players to give their all to provide veteran ‘keeper Joe Hart – who is retiring at the end of the campaign – with a well-earned send-off.

The gaffer recently heaped praise on Hart, who crucially saved a penalty in a shootout with Aberdeen on Saturday to send the Hoops through to the Scottish Cup final.

On the ‘keeper, Rodgers said: [Celtic TV via PLZ Soccer] “He’s been an absolutely brilliant player in his career.

“If you go back to when he was at Shrewsbury as a young player and now fast forward, all his life, the commitment, the sacrifices he has made have all been for the team.

“He’s very much a team player. Seeing how he has supported his team-mates this season, he’s absolutely brilliant. Of course we want to do it for the club, but for Joe finishing off this would be a wonderful sign-off for him.”

The next six games will define the success of Celtic’s season and how Hart ends his playing career.

He will want to end his days on the pitch with prosperity, but the Bhoys have to earn it, starting with a trip to Dundee this Sunday.
