BRENDAN RODGERS has offered his former captain the chance to join him as a coach down south, the Daily Record reports.

After the Aberdeen skipper announced his retirement on Tuesday, which would be effective immediately, the manager who led the Celtic Invincibles is keen to bring Brown to the midlands, but not permanently.

It’s thought that the Irishman promised to get Brown involved with the game and assist him in his next steps.

The English side, who are currently in the bottom half of the table, have invited the 36-year-old down south to give him the opportunity to meet with the staff and his old manager.

Contacting his former skipper on Tuesday, shortly after his decision to hand up his boots was announced, Rodgers promised to show Brown the ins and outs of the football club.

It was thought Celtic would help their former captain in his coaching career – offering him a role in the youth set up. However, with this latest development, it looks likely he will be joining Rodgers in the midlands very soon.
