THREE first-team players started in Celtic B’s emphatic Glasgow Cup win over Partick Thistle.

Mikey Johnston, Karamoko Dembele and Jonny Kenny were all named in Tommy McIntyre’s starting lineup for the afternoon kick-off.

After returning from injury, Johnston played 75 minutes, scored one goal and set up another one. Karamoko netted the ball twice and assisted once while Johnny Kenny scored his first goal in green and white.

Joey Dawson, who has featured for the first team this season, added his name to the scoresheet.

The match finished 5-0, and it was the side’s first win in the Glasgow Cup.

With no first-team action until after the weekend, it was an excellent opportunity for the players to force themselves into Postecoglou’s thoughts. Karamoko and Johnston have featured for the manager but will hope to have more minutes before the season ends.

Johnny Kenny was signed in January but is still waiting for a mention in the squad. The Irish striker has had to deal with COVID issues and injury problems, and getting minutes under his belt with the B side will help his cause as he looks to break into the first team.
