Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made a slender nod to Aberdeen centre-forward Bojan Miovski when speaking after the Hoops’ semi-final victory on Saturday.
In a topsy-turvy clash, the Bhoys eventually came out triumphant penalty-shootout victors. It was a stressful afternoon for supporters with things proving frantic from the off.
Indeed, Miovski opened the scoring within two minutes, latching on to a smart Leighton Clarkson pass that broke Celtic’s defensive line.
The North Macedonian fired past Joe Hart to score against the Celts for the second time this season.
After the game, Rodgers hailed the 24-year-old. He said: [BBC Scotland via Football Scotland] “I think we weren’t tight enough in our positioning and as I said, they were quite bright in midfield and combined really well to get through.
“He’s a good player, their striker. So yeah, there was just too much space. We were away on the attack before we’ve even secured the ball and they scored a very good goal so you have to give them credit for that.”
Although this unprompted praise of Miovski might capture the attention, the Celtic manager has heaped acclaim on Lawrence Shankland previously in a similar manner.
Depending on the Adam Idah situation, though, the Hoops may need a striker this summer and Miovski’s record in Scotland for the Dons is hard to escape.
He has been linked with a move to Parkhead before but at the moment, the focus for Celtic will be on the run-in and securing a double.
